Celebrating 25 Years at Robson Ranch Texas
Twenty-five years ago, a bold vision brought the Robson Resort Communities to Texas for the first time. What began as 3,000 acres of open ranch land has grown into a thriving active adult community.
Today, Robson Ranch Texas celebrates its 25th anniversary and the people who helped shape its remarkable history. From the original pioneers to today’s residents, their stories reflect a lasting legacy of friendship, connection, and active living.
Bringing the Vision to Texas
For decades, founder Ed Robson successfully developed active adult communities across Arizona. Eventually, extensive research and feasibility studies revealed an opportunity to bring his signature lifestyle to Texas.
At the time, the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex was experiencing significant growth. As a result, Denton emerged as an ideal location for the company’s first community outside Arizona. Situated along I-35W, the location offered convenient access to the growing Metroplex and DFW International Airport.
In 1999, the company purchased approximately 3,000 acres of open ranch land south of Denton. However, the goal was never to simply replicate the company’s Arizona communities. Instead, Ed Robson partnered with local architects and designers to create a distinctive Texas Ranch identity.
Soon after, planning and construction moved forward. In May 2001, Robson Ranch Texas celebrated its official grand opening, although much of the community was still taking shape.
During those early months, roads remained unpaved and model homes were under construction. Meanwhile, the Sales Office and golf shop operated from temporary trailers.
Despite the dusty landscape, excitement continued to build as the first homeowners arrived. These early residents recognized the community’s potential and were eager to become part of its future.
The Pioneers Who Built a Foundation

Between September 2001 and December 2002, the first 110 homeowners closed on their new homes. Today, these original residents are fondly remembered as the Robson Ranch Pioneers.
In those early days, the community had no completed clubhouse or extensive collection of amenities. Instead, neighbors created their own opportunities to connect and build friendships.
For example, evening walks became opportunities to meet neighbors, while casual potluck dinners brought everyone together. Additionally, resident volunteers produced a community newsletter and delivered it door-to-door.
As the neighborhood grew, small milestones became memorable moments in the community’s history:
-
Mail delivery officially began after the first 25 homes were occupied.
-
Holiday celebrations brought neighbors together inside the new Sales Office, the community’s first permanent structure.
-
Early social gatherings took place inside the fitness center as soon as construction was completed.
Together, these experiences established a welcoming spirit and sense of connection that continue to define Robson Ranch Texas today.
What began with a handful of neighbors has grown into a community with more than 200 clubs, groups, and activities. Yet, that same pioneering spirit remains at the heart of everyday life.
From Open Land to Resort-Style Living
Over the past 25 years, Robson Ranch Texas has transformed into a premier active adult community. Today, more than 4,500 homeowners enjoy an active lifestyle filled with opportunities to pursue interests and build friendships.
As resident Darryl puts it in this homeowner highlight video, life at Robson Ranch comes down to one question: “What is there not to do?”
That enthusiasm reflects the lifestyle residents experience every day, supported by an impressive collection of resort-style amenities:
-
The Clubhouse: A 17,500-square-foot central hub featuring a 400-seat ballroom, stage, and multi-purpose activity rooms.
-
Wildhorse Golf Club: Offers 27 holes of championship golf alongside full-service dining at the Wildhorse Grill.
-
Cimarron Sports Club: Features indoor and outdoor resort pools, a gymnasium, 16 pickleball courts, and 6 tennis courts.
-
Pinnacle Fitness Center: Provides modern cardio and strength-training equipment to support an active lifestyle.
-
Creative Arts & Technology Center: Features dedicated spaces for woodworking, ceramics, crafts, and a resident art gallery.
-
Outdoor Spaces: Includes a dog park, fishing lake, walking paths, bocce ball courts, and a softball field.
Beyond the amenities, residents have created a community rich with friendships, traditions, and shared interests. From neighborhood gatherings to friendly competition on the courts, each day offers something different.
As a result, the active lifestyle envisioned 25 years ago continues to grow and evolve with each generation of residents.
Homes Designed for Active Living

Throughout 25 years of homebuilding, Robson Ranch Texas has continued to evolve its home designs for comfort and connection. Today, new construction homes range from approximately 1,550 to nearly 4,000 square feet.
Floorplans offer two to four bedrooms, flexible den spaces, and expanded two- to four-car garages. Many designs also accommodate a personal golf cart, making it convenient to travel throughout the community.
Inside, open-concept layouts bring kitchens, dining areas, and great rooms together. Spacious islands, walk-in pantries, and thoughtful design details create inviting spaces for everyday living and entertaining. Additionally, popular designs such as the Bella and Aubrey emphasize indoor-outdoor living. Extended covered patios provide space to relax, entertain friends, or appreciate views of surrounding greenbelts and golf fairways.
While home designs have evolved, quality craftsmanship, and thoughtful planning remain central to the Robson Ranch Texas experience.
