SaddleBrooke Cornhole Club fundraised to add outdoor lighting for SaddleBrooke and The Preserve residents

Cornhole Under the Stars at SaddleBrooke

Evening play is officially underway as cornhole under the stars becomes the newest way to enjoy community fun at SaddleBrooke and The Preserve at SaddleBrooke. Thanks to a successful member-led initiative and HOA board approval, the SaddleBrooke Cornhole Club is now lighting up the night at the DesertView courts. With newly installed outdoor lighting, residents can take full advantage of cooler nighttime temperatures while enjoying friendly cornhole matches beneath the desert sky.

What Is Cornhole?

Cornhole (also known regionally as sack toss or bags) is a lawn game popular in North America in which players or teams take turns throwing fabric bean bags at a raised, angled board with a hole in its far end. The goal is to score points by either landing a bag on the board (one point) or getting a bag through the hole (three points).

It’s a simple yet satisfying game that blends a touch of skill with plenty of fun—perfect for casual get-togethers or light-hearted competition.

Why It’s a Favorite Among 55+ Residents

Cornhole continues to gain popularity in Active Adult communities like The Preserve at SaddleBrooke for good reason. The game is easy to learn, doesn’t require intense physical effort, and is accessible for players of all abilities. Whether you’re tossing for fun or keeping score, cornhole encourages social interaction, laughter, and connection—making it a natural fit for community life.

Plus, it’s an activity that can be enjoyed year-round outdoors, especially with the recent lighting addition that makes evening play even more appealing.

Lighting the Way for Fun

To make play more enjoyable during the cooler hours, members of the Cornhole Club quickly raised funds for new outdoor lighting at the DesertView courts. With HOA board support, the project moved forward, and now the lights are on every night from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., adding new energy to evening activities.

Saturday Night Drop-In Play

For those looking to join in, Saturday Night Drop-In Play welcomes residents of all experience levels. The fun begins around 6:45 p.m. and runs until 9 p.m. It’s the perfect opportunity to connect with neighbors, try something new, and enjoy the twilight hours in good company.

A Community Effort

A big thank you goes out to the dedicated Cornhole Club members whose enthusiasm and fundraising made this project possible. Your efforts have created more than just better visibility—you’ve created another way for residents to come together and enjoy life.
