PebbleCreek’s Gimmee Girls Celebrate 25 Years
At PebbleCreek, an active adult community known for its resort-style living and vibrant social scene, friendships often form around shared interests—and golf is no exception. One standout example is PebbleCreek’s Gimmee Girls, a spirited group of women who have played together for 25 years. Formed in 1999, this group blends friendly competition with lasting connection. They play every Friday, gather for monthly luncheons, and celebrate life’s moments together both on and off the course.
Recently, thirty-nine current and former Gimmee Girls gathered to celebrate 25 years of camaraderie and golf at the home of Kathy Carney. The celebration was hosted by Kathy Carney, Susan Bentson, Lynn Grice, and Sue White.
A Morning on the Course
To kick off the day, current members played a themed round of golf using a “2’s and 5’s” format, where only holes starting with T or F were counted.
Reminiscing and Recognizing
Following a luncheon, Sue White emceed a program filled with reflections and honors. Sue Woodard, who founded the group in 1999, shared fun memories from the group’s early days, while others shared their own heartfelt stories.
Long-Standing Traditions
The Gimmee Girls continue to play every Friday and host monthly luncheons, annual Christmas parties, outings to other courses, and memorable trips. Past event photos, complete with various team shirts through the years, were on display. Furthermore, two dedicated members also coordinate birthday and anniversary celebrations for the group.
Honoring Members
A roll call recognized former and current members. Sue invited all former members in attendance to stand as their names were read, followed by current members who remained standing based on years of membership. Two members, Emma Mosely and Karin Smith, have been with the group for the full 25 years.
A Moment of Silence
The group honored former members who have passed with a moment of silence and the reading of their names.
Celebrating Accomplishments
Gimmee Girls have earned several notable victories in major PebbleCreek Ladies Golf Association tournaments, including the Developer’s Cup and Senior Club Championship. Additionally, four members have served as PCLGA Presidents.
Toasts and Tokens
Then, the group shared two meaningful toasts:
“Golf is where friendships are forged and golf is just a suggestion!”
“May your swing be straight and the ball fly far, and may your round be blessed with no worse than par!”
Emma Mosely gifted current members a 25-year anniversary towel, and all attendees received a commemorative decal for their golf carts from an anonymous donor.
The PebbleCreek’s Gimme Girls day was joyful, filled with memories, laughter, and the celebration of lasting friendships.
