Preserve Residents Rally for LA Fire Victims
A Community United in Generosity
When disaster strikes, communities come together. That was certainly the case at The Preserve at SaddleBrooke when residents quickly mobilized to support victims of the devastating California fires. Preserve residents rally for LA fire victims. It all started with David and Kathleen Eaton, who were searching for a way to send clothing to those affected. Their efforts led them to an Arizona-based clothing drive in Gilbert, Arizona, organized by Wes Bender and his wife.
Immediate Action and Overwhelming Support
After a brief discussion, Wes assured the Eatons that he would arrange to pick up any clothing collected in The Preserve the following day. A notice was sent to residents via two different email lists. Within just 15 minutes, donations started pouring in. The response was so overwhelming that coordinating transportation became a challenge—but one met with determination and teamwork. Several generous individuals also donated funds to help cover gas expenses for transporting the items to California.
From Arizona to California: A Massive Effort
On Monday evening, Wes’ son arrived with a 6×12-foot U-Haul trailer and a large pickup truck. With the help of several neighbors, the vehicles were packed to capacity with hundreds of bags of clothing. By the end of the week, four large rental vehicles—including two semi-trucks and two U-Haul trailers—delivered the donations to a church in Fearless, California. There, volunteers sorted and distributed the clothing to fire victims from all over the region.
An Inspiring Display of Kindness
The rapid response and generosity of Preserve residents made a lasting impact. Many people called in the following days hoping to contribute, but the team did not plan any additional trips to California at that time. However, should another opportunity arise, the community will be notified.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the 100-plus people who selflessly gathered clothing from their drawers and closets, ensuring that much-needed items reached those in crisis within just 24 hours of the initial call for help. Preserve residents rally for LA fire victims.
