Quail Creek Golfers Support Arizona Veterans
At Quail Creek, a 55+ active adult community in Southern Arizona, residents embrace not only an active lifestyle but also meaningful opportunities to make a difference. Recently, Quail Creek golfers supported Arizona veterans with a $1,000 donation from the Quail Creek Veterans Golf Association, presented by president Rene Gill to Mik Milem, executive director of Arizona Soldier’s Best Friend. This contribution reflects the community’s ongoing commitment to U.S. military veterans and their unique needs.
Arizona Soldier’s Best Friend
Arizona Soldier’s Best Friend provides veterans living with combat-related post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or traumatic brain injury (TBI) with service or therapeutic companion dogs. Not only do the veterans benefit from the support, but the dogs also experience a second chance at life, as most are rescued from local shelters. Accordingly, the program addresses both veteran care and pet overpopulation.
Training requires daily dedication, including private and group sessions held twice a week for six to nine months. Veterans can access these sessions in Phoenix, Tucson, Green Valley, Sahuarita, Prescott, Sierra Vista, Flagstaff, and Yuma. All services are provided at no cost, ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent veterans from receiving life-changing support.
For over a decade, the QCVGA has been a steadfast supporter of veterans and active-duty military organizations. Since its founding, the association has donated over $36,000, including significant contributions to The Women of Quail Creek and Caring Hearts & Hands to support the Arizona Air National Guard.
