Mixed Doubles Tennis Built on Friendly Competition
The excitement began with a random draw to determine the mixed doubles pairings for the highly anticipated tournament weekend. Players eagerly awaited the results, setting the stage for fun and spirited competition.
Despite changeable weather, matches were played in a two-set format, keeping both participants and spectators fully engaged. Skill, strategy, and a little friendly rivalry made the tournament a highlight for all involved.
Championship Match and Standout Performances
The competition narrowed to the top four players, who faced off in the championship match. An experienced official ensured that the rules were followed. Windy conditions added extra challenge during serves, but players rose to the occasion. Ryan Modesto and Chris Moravchik claimed first place, while Hilary and Rick Wade finished as runners-up—and fun fact: Rick and Hilary are also married, adding a special twist to their teamwork.
The Annual Chili Cook-Off
After all the tennis excitement, attendees enjoyed the Annual Chili Cook-Off, a community favorite. On the menus was ten unique chili recipes along with cornbread, salads, and desserts. Stuart Nelson’s Pork Verde Chili took top honors, but the real winner was the sense of community shared by everyone. Thanks to the QC Tennis Social Committee and organizers for making this event a success.
