A Day at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum

Club members visited the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum for a day of exploration and learning. The 21-acre museum features mostly outdoor exhibits. The group walked nearly two miles of paths while joining docent-led talks about desert wildlife and plant life.

Up Close with Wildlife

The Raptor Free Flight stood out as the highlight. Birds of prey flew just overhead, giving guests a close look at their speed and movement. The experience felt immediate and memorable. Inside the Warden Oasis Theatre, residents attended a live animal presentation. The session featured rattlesnakes and a young Gila monster.

Dining and Flexible Exploration

Club members enjoyed lunch at their own pace. Some chose Ocotillo Café for a sit-down meal. Others preferred the casual setting at Ironwood Terraces. Afterward, the group explored the museum independently. Popular stops included the Hummingbird Aviary, Ironwood Art Gallery, and on-site shops.
