Learn the Basics of Pottery
The SBR Mudslingers pottery studio offers a comprehensive two-part introduction class designed for residents who are new to pottery. Participants are introduced to the fundamentals of working with clay while becoming familiar with the studio’s equipment, techniques, and creative process.
The first session focuses on hand-building, where students learn how to shape, sculpt, and join clay using essential pottery techniques. With guidance from experienced instructors, each participant creates two original pottery pieces while building confidence with the medium.
Add Color with Glazing
The second session explores the exciting process of glazing. Students learn how to choose, prepare, and apply glazes to achieve beautiful finishes, colors, and textures that bring their creations to life. Also, this class includes a studio orientation and safety tour, introducing participants to studio etiquette, equipment operation, and best practices. By the end of the program, new potters are prepared to use the studio independently as members.
A Creative Community
After completing the introductory classes, participants are invited to join the Mudslingers pottery studio and continue developing their skills alongside fellow residents. The state-of-the-art Arts and Technology Center provides an inspiring place to create, while experienced members are always ready to offer encouragement, share techniques, and help newcomers feel at home. The Mudslingers studio gives residents a place to create, learn new skills, make friends, and enjoy the creative process.
