Piecemakers Stitch a Legacy of Giving

At SaddleBrooke Ranch, creativity and generosity go hand in hand. For members of the SaddleBrooke Ranch Piecemakers, a shared passion for quilting has become a meaningful way to help others.

Since 2017, the club has donated more than 1,000 handmade quilts to charitable organizations and individuals in need. This remarkable milestone reflects years of dedication, compassion, and a commitment to making a difference.

A Milestone Worth Celebrating

With a delivery of 65 quilts and 26 pillowcases to Casa de Paz and CASA of Pinal County, the club reached 1,023 donated quilts.

The Piecemakers support both organizations through their charitable efforts. Casa de Paz, a women’s shelter operated by Against Abuse, Inc., provides support to women in need. Meanwhile, CASA of Pinal County advocates for children in foster care.

Over the years, the Piecemakers have also contributed to the Tucson Veterans Home, Aviva Children’s Shelter, and other organizations. Their generosity extends beyond quilts to include pillowcases, placemats, bags, toiletries, and household essentials.

Bringing Comfort Close to Home

The Piecemakers also share their talents with fellow SaddleBrooke Ranch residents facing difficult times. Through their outreach efforts, the club provides handmade quilts to neighbors experiencing serious illness or the loss of a loved one.

To date, 83 residents have received these thoughtful gifts. Others have chosen to honor loved ones by donating quilts to charitable organizations in their memory.

Each quilt offers more than warmth. It carries a message of compassion, comfort, and support from neighbors who care.

A Tradition of Giving Since 2017

The Piecemakers began in 2017 with approximately two dozen members and have since grown to nearly 100. From the beginning, charitable giving has remained at the heart of the club.

Their first community service project sent 19 quilts to Houston following Hurricane Harvey. The group continued its disaster relief efforts, donating 36 quilts to Kentucky flood victims and 30 quilts to Globe flood victims.

Through these contributions, the Piecemakers have extended the spirit of SaddleBrooke Ranch far beyond the community.

Where Creativity Meets Community

Much of the club’s quilting takes place in the Creative Arts Center, where members have access to specialized equipment. The Needle Arts Room features a Gammill longarm quilting machine that helps bring many of their charitable projects to completion.

The club supplies backing fabric, batting, and thread, while trained members contribute their time and skills.

However, the Piecemakers offer much more than an opportunity to quilt. Members exchange ideas, learn new techniques, and build friendships while working toward a shared purpose.
