Robson Ranch Texas Community Library Achievement
Recently, a milestone was achieved for the Robson Ranch Texas community library. For the past seven years, the Friends of the Library (FOL) has been a steadfast supporter, providing invaluable financial assistance that has enriched the lives of residents.
Annual Meeting and Door Prizes
They celebrated this milestone a the FOL’s annual meeting. Held at the library itself, the event drew a crowd of around 50 members for an evening of fun and appreciation. Attendees weren’t just there to celebrate – they also had a chance to win some fantastic door prizes! From book lover’s delights to delightful home décor and even treats for furry friends, there was something for everyone.
FOL’s Impact on the Library
The real highlight of the evening was a look back at the incredible impact the FOL has had on the library. Founding member and first FOL chair, Klaus Dannenberg, recounted the group’s origins. Back in April 2018, the library faced a potential reduction in space to make way for a woodshop expansion. Mr. Dannenberg, with Ed Robson and others, founded the FOL to support the library and raise funds. They recognize the library’s vital role in our community.
Their efforts have paid off in spades. Gil Clifton, chair of the Library Subcommittee, shared some impressive statistics. Thanks in part to FOL’s support, the library is now open seven days a week. Seeing an average of 30-35 resident visits per day, this translates to a staggering 10,000-12,000 visits annually! Mr. Clifton also highlighted the positive impact on programming. Before the FOL, the library relied solely on donated used books, making it difficult to organize themed reading events like the current Historical Fiction program. “Being able to order and buy books has made a big difference,” he emphasized.
New Leadership and Membership
Looking towards the future, the FOL is excited to welcome new leadership. Deborah Diehl takes over as chair, with Dianna Lucas as chair-elect and Elaine Kushmaul stepping into the past chair role. Deb Blackburn remains the dedicated secretary, and Frannie Howard continues her role as treasurer.
The FOL is always looking for new members to join their mission! If you’re a resident of Robson Ranch Texas and interested in supporting our fantastic library, head over to their website to join or renew your membership.
Here’s to many more years of the Friends of the Library making a difference at the heart of our community!
