Robson Ranch Texas Supports Our Troops

Robson Ranch Texas supports our troops through the engaging community club, Support Our Troops (SOT). Within this club, the community maintains its unwavering dedication to honoring and assisting military personnel through a variety of initiatives. So much of what SOT is able to do is thanks to the generous Robson Ranch residents and donors to our club. Thank you for that.

Supporting Our Troops

The latest meeting ushered in an exciting start to the new year as we welcomed our newest guest of honor, Ariel. This delightful three-month-old yellow lab puppy represents our ongoing sponsorship through Patriot Paws in Rockwall, a charity dedicated to training service dogs for veterans in need. Born in September 2023, Ariel has been undergoing training for eight weeks and will continue for two and a half years to master 65 cues and commands. Once trained, she will be assigned to a veteran at no cost. As a club, Support Our Troops (SOT) has proudly donated $169,000 to Patriot Paws since 2008, with Ariel marking our third sponsored dog. She received a multitude of pats and was a wonderful and well-behaved guest!

Currently, we provide assistance to 92 military personnel, both deployed and non-deployed, with nine currently deployed worldwide. In 2023, we sent over 420 care packages to deployed troops, along with Christmas checks for all those we support.

Community Involvement

The Sassy Stampers, a club at Robson Ranch, contribute by crafting beautiful patriotic cards sent monthly to deployed military personnel and quarterly to non-deployed members. Also, the Veterans Day Silent Auction in 2023 raised over $36,000, and we anticipate another successful event with the upcoming SOT Golf Tournament in the spring at the Wildhorse Golf Course.

Honoring Veterans & Flags

Our Veterans Park features bricks honoring Robson Ranch residents and their relatives who have served. Among them is John Gaunt, a Union Army private during the Civil War. Gaunt received the Medal of Honor for capturing the heavily guarded Confederate flag during a battle near Franklin, Tenn. You can learn more about Gaunt in the Veterans book located in the clubhouse.

Additionally, SOT provides flag kits for displaying the American flag in your yard. These kits, featuring US-made flags, are available for $60. Additionally, if you already have a flagpole but require a new flag, you can order one for $30, with delivery included. A member of SOT will assist with flag installation. For inquiries, please contact Quinn Sowell.

Join Us

SOT meetings are held monthly in the clubhouse in the Lone Star Room on the second Monday at 1 p.m. Membership is open to all, and we warmly welcome new members to our group. We look forward to seeing you there!
