Madera Canyon features lofty mountain peaks, forested slopes, beautiful views, and more than ten hiking trails for you to enjoy and explore the southern Arizona, Tucson area landscape. The trail system includes varying grade levels from easy to difficult and lengths between three and twenty-three miles. Paved, accessible trails are also available for people using wheelchairs and walkers and meander through the beautiful lower canyon area. Whether you are a junior or senior hiker, Madera Canyon offers something for everyone!
Bird Watching
Bird enthusiasts and those who simply appreciate the many facets of nature will enjoy Madera Canyon. The riparian woodland along the intermittent stream and the wide variety of southern Arizona flora is home to more than 250 species of birds. The canyon is a premier birdwatching area from common species seen often in the area to rare species found only with luck.
Picnicking
Enjoy the open air as you leisurely share a meal with friends and family at one of the many picnic areas at Madera Canyon. Located near the parking areas throughout the recreational site, you will find picnic tables and charcoal grills for your use.
Camping
Thirteen campsites are available in Madera Canyon at the Box Springs Campground. Campsites are suitable for tents or RVs. RV hookups are not provided. Drinking water and restrooms are available at the campground, and each campsite features a table and fire grill.

Davis-Monthan Air Force Base is a key Air Combat Command installation with the city limits of Tucson. Pima Air and Space Museum features more than four dozen interpretive exhibits housed in nearly a 100,000 square feet of galleries and definitely has something for everyone to enjoy. The Pima Air & Space Museum, one of the largest air and space museums in the world, and the largest non-government funded aviation museum, has more than 300 aircraft and spacecraft including many of the most historically significant and technically advanced craft ever produced, both from the United States and throughout the world. The Titan II Missile Museum is the only publicly accessible Titan II missile site in the nation.
